Ambrosia beetles are small wood destroying insect. They belong to the weevil family. Ambrosia beetles excavate tunnel in wood and transmit fungal diseases to the infested trees. The trees eventually weaken and die. It’s easy to spot the Ambrosia beetles in the tree. As they infested a tree, they produce strands of boring dust. The beetles are most active during spring and summer. The ambrosia beetles attack over 100 species of trees. Most common ones are dogwood, maple, cherry carpe myrtle, pecan, peach, plum. persimmon, fig and mulberry trees.
