I have a fish room in my basement, it change out water almost 50 gallons of water everyday. it’s a waste not to use it. Beside, the aquarium has natural fish waste. That’s a good fertilizer. My fish room has an automatic water change system. The water was pumped into the fish tank and flow out of the back and collected in the reservoir. When the water is full, the flow switch will be on to pump the water out through the wall to another outdoor reservoir.

The outlet to the outdoor reservoir has a filter. The filter will catch any debris in the water so it won’t clog the drip emitter. The the reservoir there is another flow switch, this will turn on when the outdoor reservoir is full. The pump will start pump the water to the drip irrigation system and distributed to my fig trees.

I use 1/2 inch rain bird irrigation tubing as the main distribution line. Each pump connects to approximately 15 trees. I branch t he irrigation lines so the each branch is no more than 6 trees. I use tab in connectors that tab into the main line and connect to smaller 1/8 inch irrigation tubing. I attached the emitter at the end of the irrigation tubing and install it within the pot.

I like to use the adjustable emitters. Those emitters can be taken apart to clean up. The fixed emitters cannot be cleaned when clogged. They had to be replaced. I have to cut the piece off the irrigation tubing to connect a new emitter. It’s easier just simply take the cap of the adjustable emitter off and clean.
I am using the water from the water from my fish room. It can be easily to modified using the municipal water and timer controlled water timer.
