Black Mission

Black mission is a popular fig variety. It was first introduced to the United States in 1768 when Franciscan missionaries planted it in San Diego. It later become the main commercial variety planted throughout California. The black mission is a high quality fig variety. It produces both breba and the main crop. The breba crop is large. The main crop is medium-sized. The fruit has dark skin with Strawberry colored interior. The fruit has good flavor. Black missions fig is sweet yet mild, mellow yet rich. black mission figs deserved their reputation as the most consistently delicious fresh fig available. While they have a flavor all their own, the taste could be described as mix of strawberry, melon and banana flavor, with a pleasantly jammy and creamy texture. it is very productive. It is considered one of the highest quality figs that can be grown in USDA zone 9 and up in the Unites States.
