Violett de Bordeaux figs are among the favorite figs by many. This variety checked all the checkboxes that the fig growers wanted: excellent berry flavor, ripen early (not requiring a head start in the green house for the norther grower), rain/split resistant, very productive, cold hardy and stay relative small compared to other common figs, like brown turkey. The fig boss, ross, consider this variety to be the standard for the fig and considered as one of the three classic proven variety (along with Chicago Hardy and Celeste).
Violett de Bordeaux is a common fig, it produces many small to medium size figs. The berry is deep purple color and red/strawberry flesh. This variety also produce breba crop. The breba crop is also very delicious.
